HELP CARING HANDS FOR TURKEY EQUIP NURSE REEM SROUR TO TREAT SOME OF THE POOREST AMD MOST VULNERABLE PEOPLE IN THE REFUGEE CAMPS.
Nurse Reem Srour treats children and adults who may not otherwise receive healthcare every day in the refugee camps.
She is a one-person traveling medical unit, Srour has been changing lives by her selfless healthcare aid among the refugee camps.
Srour, a refugee herself, lived and worked as a nurse in a surgical field hospital in Syria for years before she fled the war. She cannot go home because she treated rebel soldiers in an area that is now controlled by the government.
Unmarried and without children, she was quickly recognised among the camps as a kind and considerate nurse. Working along with other medical aid staff, she helped in distributing medications for children with diseases and pregnant women.
It may be due to her current refugee visa status or lack of employment opportunities for licensed refugee nurses, Srour fights for lives every day by offering free care to wounded and sick people all over the camps.
From ailing patients, injuries, the selfless nurse does all she can for her patients.
Her charity works did not take long to be noticed by caring Hands and a partnership began. We have helped her reach more people by purchasing medical supplies and arranging transportation.
Often she has been walking about with a small bag in which she carries medications and testing kits provided to refugees, with her heart in her arm and a smile. Many refugees tell of how she helped them when they couldn't afford to go to the hospitals, and for fear of catching the covid virus.
Srour expressed one of her biggest challenge is her lack of transportation to reach patients quicker, when she needs to pick supplies or check on a patient, she has to walk the distance or have a volunteer drive her around.
Having a means of moving around more easily would enable her work faster and reach more people. So we are launching an appeal for donations to get Nurse Reem Srour a van to move around the camps and get some more medical supplies.
A $20,000 Appeal Fund has been launched to buy Nurse Srour a van and get more medical supplies.
